1948 Gibson LG2 – £5799

Oct 14, 2026 | Gibson

NEW ARRIVAL  Late 1940’s LG2’s are amongst the most desirable post war small body Gibsons, and this is a particularly clean example, with a vivid sunburst finish. The Spruce / Mahogany 00 size guitar is X braced, making it very resonant with lots of sustain. This ere Gibsons have full feeling necks, which carry more tone, and add to the response felt by the player. When you pick the guitar up, the first thing you notice is the bite in the attack, then as the notes ring out, the long sustain blooms and shimmers. It’s a very versatile guitar – in fact LG2’s are also know as baby J45’s. The bass isn’t quite as strong but the balance in the mids means you don’t get the dreaded mid range scoop. Happy with fingerstyle, flat picking and strumming, the guitar is a proper all rounder, very surprising from a 00. The guitar is in fantastic playing condition, and in surprisingly good shape for it’s age – all the cool looking lacquer checking is the giveaway. There’s a wear patch on the back of the neck, and a noticeable ding on the treble side rim by the waist. Other than that it’s in excellent condition. The guitar comes in a vintage hard case.
