1961 Gibson Country Western

SOLD  1961 is the last year the Country Western had the very desirable slope shoulder body  – by 1962 it had changed to a square shoulder body with a 3 point pickguard. This gives the guitar an altogether richer sound with greater sustain, but still has that classic mellow Gibson vibe. Visually the Spruce top has darkened nicely, contrasting beautifully with the tortoiseshell pickguard, and the Mahogany back and sides really shine. The Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard feels very responsive, and easy to play. Altogether it’s a lovely guitar, very solid feeling with no cracks or repairs. It was originally a double pickguard version, and the shadow of the original is still visible. There’s lots of great looking lacquer checking and playwear, adding to the character and vintage vibe. The neck is fuller feeling than later 60’s models, and the playability is excellent. The guitar comes in a non original hard case.
