1936 Epiphone Navarre – £3999

NEW ARRIVAL 30’s Epiphone flat tops are one of the best kept secrets in vintage guitars, and certainly amongst the rarest. The Navarre flattop was introduced in 1931, and was Epiphone’s response to the Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe. It’s a big bodied Red Spruce / Mahogany dreadnought, lightly ladder braced, with a 12 fret neck join, and the scale length is long 25 3/8”. This combination, together with very thin, high end tone woods gives this guitar plenty of volume and punch with stronger trebles than a Smeck. The sound is also more balanced and not quite as boomy. Altogether an absolute joy to play, hugely responsive and very versatile. This example is in excellent condition for it’s age, with just one repaired top crack, and an over sprayed back and sides. It has upgraded tuners, and a replaced pickguard. To add to the rarity of this already scarce guitar, it even comes in it’s original hard case.
