1941 Kalamazoo KG-12 Oriole

SOLD  The Kalamazoo Oriole was only produced between 1940 – 1941, as a more deluxe version of Gibson’s depression era guitars, built from higher grade tonewoods than the standard Kalamazoo guitars. The back and sides are made from flamed Maple, and the binding is tortoise celluloid. The neck is a more rounded profile rather than the deep V found on most other Kalamazoo guitars. The KG12 was only in production for two years, just before the US joined WWII, and are much rarer than the more common 1930’s Kalamazoo flat tops. Tonally it has real bite in the mid range, with quite sweet trebles, it works particularly well for fingerstyle and soloing, although loves light strumming. Ideal for country blues and ragtime. This example is in very good condition, with no cracks or repairs, and excellent playability. It even comes in it’s original hard case.
