2019 Atkin 00037 Aged – £2499

NEW ARRIVAL  There’s no secret that Alistair Atkin is producing guitars that are based on specific historic Gibson and Martin models. What’s interesting is just how well he’s doing it – so much so that he’s making waves in the US, who can’t understand how a British luthier is producing such an American sound….. This 00037 is a prime example; It’s his take on a 1937 Martin 000-28, from their Golden Age of acoustics. It has a torrefied Sitka Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides, with a super thin aged toner nitro finish allowing the whole body to really resonate. The Spruce / Rosewood combination, give a rich tone, with great clarity, and the body size gives real detail in the mids and trebles. The 000 size body really packs a punch, making it a fingerpickers’ dream. A surprisingly versatile guitar, with great playability, and a very comfortable body size. The guitar is in excellent aged condition – it’s designed to show age more quickly, and already has a few signs of this. It comes in its original deluxe hard case.
