2015 Gibson J45 Mahogany Custom Shop – £2999
NEW ARRIVAL In 1943, the first full year of the WW2 Banner headstock Gibsons, a lot of their guitars had Mahogany tops because of the scarcity of Spruce. So in 2015 Gibson Custom Shop decided to revive this particular spec and produce a J45 Mahogany in very limited numbers. As a nod to the history of the guitar it has a Banner headstock logo and open back strip tuners. It still has the hallmark classic J45 tone, but with a deeper, warmer tone – what you lose in sparkling trebles, you gain in a rich bass. Also the look is different, the tobacco burst is altogether darker and moodier, a really classy looking guitar. Plus there’s Gibson Custom Shop quality everywhere you look – the way it’s been put together, the way it feels, and the way it plays, a really great sounding guitar. It’s in excellent condition, has an active pickup fitted with volume and tone controls mounted inside the soundhole, and comes in it’s original hard case.
