1997 Santa Cruz D-12 – £3749
NEW ARRIVAL Hand made by Santa Cruz in California, the D-12 is the original 12 fret dreadnought shape, that was first an oversized Hawaiian guitar over a century ago. It has a Sitka Spruce top and Honduras Mahogany back and sides, with scallop bracing, a slot headstock, and features an Ebony fretboard and bridge, plus Waverley tuners. Tonally it’s fantastic, the longer body with bridge placed closer to the soundhole, gives a more open tone with an airy bass, not found on a 14 fret model. The Mahogany back and sides give a real warmth to the tone, while the Spruce top allows the sound to cut through any mix. The herringbone trim and Abalone fingerboard inlays add a touch of class, as well as a nod to the prewar era. All in all it’s a powerhouse of a guitar, and is a joy to play. The guitar’s in very good condition, with just a couple of dings near the end pin, and comes in it’s original deluxe hard case.
