1966 Epiphone Cortez

SOLD  This Epiphone Cortez has one of the best sunbursts I’ve seen. Gibson produce an ‘Ice Tea Burst’, well this is the look they’re trying to copy – just beautiful. Made in Gibson’s Kalamazoo factory, the Cortez is a 00 size X braced guitar. The Gibson equivalent, made in the same factory is an LG2 or B25. With Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides, the tone is warm, with a sparkle in the mid range. The X bracing makes the guitar very resonant, and the sustain is impressive. It works really well for fingerstyle play, but put a pick on it and there’s real bite, with strong attack. The guitar is in excellent condition for it’s age, with no cracks or repairs, just some lovely looking lacquer checking. The original plastic bridge has been replaced with a Rosewood one, with bone saddle. The guitar comes in a later Epiphone hard case.
