1947 Martin 0-17T Tenor – £2249
NEW ARRIVAL The Tenor Guitar was originally developed by C F Martin as a transitional instrument, allowing tenor banjo players to easily switch to more popular guitar tones. The first tenor guitars appeared towards the end of the 1920’s, and they were produced mostly until the late 1950’s. This Martin 0-17T uses the ‘Single 0’ body shape, with a Mahogany body and neck, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, clipped-plate Grover tuners and a 23 inch scale length. This guitar has a throaty mid-range when hit hard, excellent upper mid-range presence, lots of overtones, and a beautiful sustain. It’s in good condition for a 78 year old, with no cracks or repairs, some heavy buckle wear on the back, and three holes in the top where a different pickup was mounted. The guitar plays really well, with a comfortable soft V profile neck, and good action. There’s a vintage De Armond soundhole pickup fitted which is really cool and sounds great. The guitar comes in a non original vintage hard case.
