1946 Gibson L48 – £1999

NEW ARRIVAL  1946, one year after Banner Gibson’s were produced, is the only year Gibson produced guitars with the large Script logo without the Banner. By 1947 the more familiar squared logo came into production. 1946 is also the first year of production of the L48, so this is a particularly rare guitar. It’s a classic example of a Spruce topped archtop with Maple back and sides stained Walnut. The tone is darker and richer than most Maple back and sided archtops I’ve played, very full sounding, although there’s the tell tale sparkle in the trebles that makes Maple so popular. The neck is full and chunky feeling, and the action is very comfortable. The guitar’s in good, all original condition – one tuner button is changed – with just one top crack and one back crack. The original pickguard and tuners are particularly eye catching. The guitar just reeks of history and comes in a Hiscox flight case.

1967 Gibson J50 – £3499

NEW ARRIVAL  This is one of the cleanest 60’s J50’s I seen for a while, with the honeyed top contrasting beautifully with the vivid red pickguard. Tonally it has a very familiar sound, similar to lots of 60’s and 70’s singer songwriter recordings, warm, rich and lush....

2003 Gibson J185 – £2299

NEW ARRIVAL  The J185 often goes under the radar, with the more famous J200 taking all the plaudits for being Gibson’s best known Spruce / Maple jumbo. Well the J185 is essentially a mini jumbo, with Spruce top and highly flamed Maple back and sides. It has its own...

1967 Epiphone Caballero – £1499

NEW ARRIVAL  Epiphones were famously made in the Gibson factory in Kalamazoo between 1960 - 1969 after Gibson bought them in 1957. Their model range mirrored Gibson’s, but had more exotic names - the Caballero is the equivalent of a Gibson LG0. It’s a 00 size, all...
