2024 Dowina Cabernet GD – £999

Oct 7, 2026 | Others

NEW ARRIVAL  The Czech Republic has long been known for their production of musical instruments – and their struggle against communist control that didn’t allow creativity until the fall of the Iron Curtain. Dowina guitars were first introduced in 2003, and by 2010 manufacture was moved to Bratislava. By 2013 they’d exhibited at the Frankfurt music show, and the secret was out. They’ve since gone from strength to strength, continuing to innovate, yet keep their prices affordable to most. The Cabernet is top of their Vintage range. It’s an OM body shape featuring an Italian Spruce top with Indian Rosewood back and sides, and flame Maple binding, all in a satin finish. There’s a very striking multi coloured herringbone rosette, Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and open back Grover tuners. Tonally the guitar sounds very open, balanced and articulate, plus the satin finish allows great resonance. It’s probably stronger with fingerstyle, but it loves a flat pick. The neck feels comfortable with good playability. As a 2 year old guitar it’s in excellent condition.
