1981 Yamaha L10 – £1299
NEW ARRIVAL Yamaha introduced the L series in 1975, for the Japanese market only, and from that range, the L10 and L15 became two of their most desirable acoustic guitar models. This 1981 L10 is from the 2nd generation, meaning it has all solid Ezo Spruce top with Indian Rosewood back and sides, and an Ebony fingerboard, with star and cross inlays. There’s also the very cool Yamaha stamped gold Grover tuners, tuning fork truss rod cover, dark tortoise pickguard, and elaborately bound top and back. The tone of the guitar is rich and smooth, with good clarity and exceptional sustain, making it a very versatile instrument, capable of handling all styles of play with ease. It’s in good condition for its age, with a fair amount of playwear, nicks and dings, but no cracks or repairs. The neck feels great and the action is comfortable. Because this model wasn’t for export, it’s still quite rare to find one in the UK, and as such it’s a well kept secret amongst vintage collectors, and fantastic value for money for those who know just how good Japanese craftsmanship was in this period.
