1937 Epiphone Apollo / Olympic – £1499

NEW ARRIVAL The Epiphone Apollo is a little known model, based on the Olympic, but made for the UK market, produced between 1937 – 1939. By 1937 the Olympic had a 15 1/4” lower bout, still with the Epiphone Masterbilt banner logo, with 3 segmented “f” holes, trapeze tailpiece and rounded headstock. What makes the Apollo different from the Olympic is the bound Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard with block inlays. The guitar has a big, bright sound, with good clarity and definition – perfect for jazz, blues and swing. Unusually for an arch top of this age, the action is good all the way along the neck, making the playability very easy. The guitar is in all original condition – although the Bakelite pickguard was painted over at some point – and very clean for it’s age. It even comes in it’s original hard case.
