2020 Lowden F34 Koa

SOLD  Lowden’s 34 series is relatively new to the market, and reflects the use of Koa in the guitar’s construction. George Lowden  says of the wood: “Koa is a comparatively lighter tonewood, which means if you like to play gently, it’s an excellent choice. It gives you the ability to express yourself and have lots of different nuances of tone. Just touch the guitar and it will respond.” Tonally is has the midrange warmth of Mahogany and the top-end sweetness of Maple. Lowden’s F size sits between the smaller S and bigger O – essentially it’s a mini jumbo. This F34 features a Sitka Spruce top over Koa back and sides. There’s a 5 piece Mahogany / Rosewood neck, topped with an Ebony fingerboard. There are flamed Maple bindings on the front and back, and the rosette and purfling feature a combination of Rosewood, Sycamore, Walnut and Mahogany, all beautifully subtle. Tonally there’s an evenness in the sound spectrum. Chords shimmer sweetly and the sustain is really impressive. Playing gently, you’re rewarded with super clarity and a surprising fullness, yet when you dig in, the volume and projection are impressive, all within a very refined voice. The guitar is in near mint condition, with great playability, and comes in it’s original deluxe Lowden hard case.
