2006 Martin J40
SOLD Introduced in 1985, the J40 was Martin’s first jumbo model. Interesting that they waited so long, and also that they made it a high end 40 series, not an 18 or 28 series. Maybe they weren’t sure of the jumbo market? Either way it’s a belter of a guitar. It features a Spruce top with Rosewood back and sides, scalloped bracing, and the deluxe appointments of a 40 series Martin including beautiful hexagonal abalone inlays, and bound Ebony fingerboard and bridge. It produces a rich full sound, with a deep throaty bass, yet well balanced and resonant across the mids and trebles. The guitar is capable of handling heavy strumming with a room filling sound, yet equally happy being fingerpicked and responsive enough when played delicately – it really is a great all rounder, and very different from most other Martins. The guitar is in excellent, all original condition, with great playability, and comes in a deluxe hard case.
