1997 Martin HD-28S
SOLD Now discontinued, the HD-28S was later rebranded HD-28VS to fit Martin’s Vintage series. In either format it’s a difficult guitar to find. 12 fret dreadnoughts still go under the radar for a lot of players. But once tried, never forgotten. They feel and sound different to most standard 14 fret models. Essentially the bridge is moved away from the soundhole, to the widest part of the body, allowing the top to resonate more. As well as this great feature, there’s also an increased bass response – not boomy, but bigger and airier. This 1997 example has also benefited from 28 years of play, adding an openness and maturity to the sound. The guitar’s in very good condition for it’s age with just light playwear, a couple of scuffs, and some wear next to the pickguard. The neck feels great with a soft V profile, and the action is comfortable. The guitar comes in a non original but correct period hard case.
