1996 Taylor 655 12 String – £1999

Jul 14, 2026 | Others

NEW ARRIVAL   Taylor have a long tradition of making 12 string acoustics that are easy to play and plug in really well. When the 655 model was released, the 600 series was top of their range, combining a Sitka Spruce top with Big Leaf Maple back and sides. The bound Ebony fingerboard has elegant Pearl leaf inlays, and there’s an eye catching Florentine cutaway. It’s also the model that’s famously associated with Prince, who played a custom built Purple 655 at Live Aid. The jumbo body with Maple back and sides give a sparkling tone, crisp and bright, with great clarity. As a 30 year old, the tone has matured and warmed, adding a greater complexity to the overall sound. The guitar is in very good condition for its age, with a few lacquer cracks, visible playwear and light scuffs. The playability is very good for a 12 string, and the plugged in sound is great. The guitar comes in its original deluxe hard case.
