1975 GIBSON J55 – £1399

NEW ARRIVAL Only available from 1973 – 1982, the J55 was designed to be an alternative to the better known square shouldered J45 and J50 models. Visually from the front it looks very similar, although the pearl logo is something usually seen on deluxe models, and the gold Gibson branded tuners are very cool. The difference is that it has an arched Mahogany back, so the guitar has the big sound and full bass associated with Gibson square shouldered dreadnoughts, but with a greater punch in the mid range. For a 47 year old guitar it’s in good, well played condition, with just one repaired top crack running alongside the pickguard, a surface crack by the end pin, and a changed bridge, plus plenty of good honest playwear and lacquer checking. The guitar has an under saddle pickup fitted which sounds very natural when plugged in, and comes in a non original hard case.
