1969 GIBSON J-160E

SOLD Forever associated with the Beatles, the J-160 E is one of the most famous guitars of all time. Interestingly in 1969 the body shape changed from slope shoulder to square shoulder, giving the guitar quite a different look, but still the same recognisable plugged in tone. This guitar has a really dark cherry burst finish, witches hat tone and volume controls, adjustable saddle, and smaller tortoiseshell pickguard. The trapezoid fingerboard inlays and double cuff Kluson tuners are the classic finishing touches. The unplugged tone is bright and punchy, with a real 60’s jangle. When plugged in, it’s difficult not to play Beatles chords. The guitar’s in very good condition, with lots of cool looking lacquer checking, and a repaired headstock crack that’s invisible to the naked eye – the only clue is that the back of the headstock has been oversprayed. The guitar has a very comfortable feeling neck, and plays very easily. It comes in a non original hard case.
