1966 Landola V66 Buffalo – £499

NEW ARRIVAL  Don’t be fooled by the price, 60’s Landola acoustics are fantastic value for money, and represent great 60’s tone on a budget. Not to be confused with later Landolas, their 60’s guitars were hand built in Finland to a high standard. The V66 Buffalo is Landola’s best known model, and sits somewhere between a 00 and a 000 size, with Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. It has a rich, dark tone, very resonant with great volume and long sustain. The body size would suggest it’s more of a fingerpicker, but the strummed sound is impressive, and flat picked even works for bluegrass. Although the guitar is in good condition for its age, it has a huge amount of lacquer checking, which only adds to the appeal for me. A great looking, easy playing, 60’s acoustic. Very cool.
