1947 Martin 0-17T Tenor
SOLD The Tenor Guitar was originally developed by C F Martin as a transitional instrument, allowing tenor banjo players to easily switch to more popular guitar tones. The first tenor guitars appeared towards the end of the 1920’s, and they were produced mostly until the late 1950’s. This Martin 0-17T uses the ‘Single 0’ body shape, with a Mahogany body and neck, Brazilian Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, clipped-plate Grover tuners and a 23 inch scale length. This guitar has a throaty mid-range when hit hard, excellent upper mid-range presence, lots of overtones, and a beautiful sustain. It’s in excellent condition for a 78 year old, and is just back from a neck reset and refret, so it plays like a dream. There’s a vintage De Armond soundhole pickup fitted which is really cool and sounds great. The guitar even comes in it’s original hard case.
