1905 Weymann Brothers Parlour

SOLD  Established in 1864 in Philadelphia, manufacturing instruments until 1933, Weymann was one of the first instrument companies in the US. Their claim to fame is making the personalised guitar that (Father of Country Music) Jimmie Rogers played, which  now resides in the Country Music Hall Of Fame. It’s tone has been described as “More of a Larson Brothers-type sound… punchier and more projection than a Martin.” This model is their Highest Grade, and has probably the finest quality inlays I’ve seen. Made with an Adirondack Spruce top and finely grained Brazilian Rosewood back and sides, it’s a parlour size that really packs a punch. There’s a bound Ebony fingerboard and inlaid bridge. The full feeling Mahogany neck has a 1 7/8” (47mm) nut, giving great string spacing, and has a comfortable V profile. The binding and rosette are very detailed, and the sides are triple bound top and bottom. Everywhere you look, the guitar just oozes quality. The tone is really impressive, very balanced, great single note bloom and clarity, with long sustain and sweeping overtones. Not to be kept in a glass case, but to played and enjoyed – it still has a lot of songs left in it. The guitar’s in excellent condition for it’s age, with just one top repair and one rim repair, plus it’s had a neck reset so it plays really well. This is a true piece of American music history. The guitar comes in the coolest turn of the century snakeskin hard case also in excellent condition.
