1900’s George Bauer Parlour

SOLD  George Bauer was a Philadelphia luthier who made guitars and mandolins from 1890-1910. The most common model was his Monogram guitar, which are fine instruments. This guitar is at a higher level altogether – the build quality is far superior. The Spruce top, and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides are excellent quality The double bound Ebony fingerboard has beautiful pearl inlays, and the bound headstock has a Brazilian Rosewood overlay. The rosette and body binding are elaborate and very eye catching. Only the Ebony bridge is non original. Unusually for a ladder braced guitar, the tone is open and clear, really detailed with long sustain – a fantastic fingerpicker. The guitar is in excellent condition, with no visible cracks, just one scratch on the top which doesn’t go through the wood. The playability is very good, the V neck feels very comfortable, and the action is just right. The guitar comes in a non original hard case.
