2013 McIlroy AS25 Custom – £2199
NEW ARRIVAL After 10 years working for Lowden, in 2000 Dermot McIlroy set up his own production company, making some of the finest hand made acoustic guitars. This AS25 Custom is one of the most impressive modern guitars I’ve played in quite a while. The Western Red Cedar top, coupled with Walnut back and sides deliver clarity and sustain in equal measures. It works very well with fingerstyle play, well balanced and articulate, with a dominant sound that never gets away from you, and when soloing the smoothness and clear as a bell single notes are very impressive. The guitar feels quite substantial and road ready, yet it’s the subtlety that’s surprising. It’s in excellent condition, with great playability, and comes in it’s original Hiscox hard case.
