2012 Jolliffe DS-18 – £1199

NEW ARRIVAL  This guitar was hand made by Norfolk luthier, Nicholas Jolliffe. He has a very low profile on the web as he has built mainly one-off guitars on commission. His guitars have a very natural feel to them, traditionally built using hand tools and minimal jigs. Wherever possible he uses local, native and reclaimed timbers. This example is based on a pre-war D-18 with a slotted headstock. It features a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, Ebony fingerboard and bridge, and Waverley open back tuners. Tonally the guitar has great clarity, single note separation and sustain. It fingerpicks very evenly with great balance, and as a strummer it has a dynamic punch. The guitar has a genuine hand made feel, the tone and playability of which is excellent. The guitar has a Fishman Rare Earth soundhole pickup fitted, and comes in a non original hard case.
