2009 Avalon S805 Brazilian Rosewood – £2799

With Brazilian Rosewood becoming more and more difficult to find, this Avalon is a real find. It has close black ‘spider web’ growth lines which are very distinctive – quarter sawn from the straight growth section of the tree, not taken from the ‘stump’ wood as many Brazilian Rosewood guitars are now. The top of the guitar is impressive too, one of the finest grained Cedar tops I’ve seen. Put this combination together and you have a very complex sounding guitar, highly articulate with great sustain, but at no point overpowering – in fact as the sustain begins to fade there’s a shimmer to each note. The guitar’s in very good condition, with just light playwear and a great feeling neck and easy playing action. The guitar has a K and K pickup installed and comes in it’s original Hiscox hard case.
