2008 Avalon D300A – £1999

Hand crafted in Ireland in the same shop, and by many of the same highly skilled luthiers, that gave birth to Lowden guitars, the Avalon Americana D300A owes as much to Gibson’s heritage as it does to that of Lowden. The slope shoulder dreadnought body design and belly bridge are clearly US inspired, as are the tobacco burst and Grover tuners. The build quality is more boutique Custom Shop, finely quartered Mahogany back and sides and a solid premium grade Sitka Spruce top, Ebony fingerboard and bridge, Sycamore binding, and snowflake inlays. The tonal balance is fantastic – it strums beautifully and fingerpicks with great clarity and single note separation. A seriously high end instrument with fantastic tone and great playability. It also features a top of the range K&K Trinity pickup system with pre amp, and comes in it’s original Hiscox flight case.
