2006 Martin D28 Custom – £2199

NEW ARRIVAL  This Martin D28 Custom is quite a looker, with it’s aged toner on the Spruce top which contrasts beautifully with the tortoise pickguard, gold tuners and headstock logo, and lack of back strip giving really clean lines. Interestingly it features an A-Frame Brace from the neck join. This is mainly to do with future proofing the guitar, as it adds rigidity to the top, thus avoiding sinkage around the sound hole. There are differing opinions as to whether this design affects tone. To my ears, it has a classic D28 sound, rich and resonant, with a full bass, strong mids and very even trebles. Also, as a ‘Custom’ model, the build quality and feel are great. The neck feels very comfortable, and the Ebony fingerboard is really responsive. The guitar is in very good condition, just the usual signs of playwear you’d expect from a 17 year old guitar. It has a K and K pickups fitted and comes in it’s original hard case.
