2001 Gibson Firebird – £2599

NEW ARRIVAL  It’s impossible not to mention the looks of this guitar before talking about the sound – Gibson Custom Shop really outdid themselves with the Firebird. The MOP and Abalone flame inlays on the Ebony fingerboard are beautiful, the flame inlays either side of the Ebony bridge are classy, and the headstock’s magnificent MOP and Abalone phoenix rising from the flames is stunning. The finishing touch is a flame engraved pickguard. Then there’s the back of the guitar, some of the best flamed Maple I’ve seen, finished in a vibrant deep cherry stain Tonally it has a real bite in the mid-range, sparkling trebles, as well as great bass response, making it a very versatile guitar – just as comfortable with delicate fingerstyle right through to heavy strumming. For a 19 year old guitar it’s in good condition, with plenty of signs of playwear, lots of lacquer checking, particularly on the sides, and a crack repair next to the end pin. The neck is very comfortable with an easy playing action, making it a great playing experience. It comes it it’s original deluxe hard case.
