1992 Orville By Gibson L1 – £1349
NEW ARRIVAL Under guidance of Gibson USA, production of ’Orville By Gibson’ started in Japan in April 1988, in order to fight the copies made by Greco, Aria, Tokai etc … Orville manufacturing was stopped in 1997. It was named in tribute to the founder of the brand Orville Gibson. So essentially this is a Japanese made Gibson, using their now famous superb build quality, craftsmanship and finish. With this L-1 they have accurately recreated the iconic guitar, made famous by Robert Johnson. It features a Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, which gives the smaller body design exceptional warmth and clarity, with great projection. Played with a pick, you access more of the high end mids for a great attack, played fingerstyle, the L-1 responds beautifully – you engage all of that sweet Mahogany tone for warm, round notes. The look is classic – aged vintage sunburst finish, fully bound body, Rosewood fingerboard, Ebony pyramid bridge, and Kluson deluxe tuners. The guitar is in excellent condition, with no cracks or repairs, and very little wear for a 28 year old guitar. It comes in a non original hard case.
