1990’s Lowden D32 Staff Build – £1599
NEW ARRIVAL Only made for a short time, a dreadnought shaped Lowden is quite a rarity. It still has the resonance, clarity, and individual note separation you’d expect from a Lowden, but the dreadnought shape delivers more low end frequencies – very interesting with drop tunings. The Sitka Spruce top adds a bright shimmer to the tone, while the Indian Rosewood back and sides provide the attack and complexity. It’s a great all rounder, equally happy being strummed, flat picked or played finger style. Visually it’s a treat, classic lines with classy but understated finishing touches. This guitar is a Staff Build, which is a rarity in itself. Each luthier at Lowden is allowed to build one guitar for themselves per year. They have access to all the high quality tonewoods, and building materials, but are asked to change something significant about it’s appearance. With this guitar it’s the flat headstock and rectangular bridge. But it still has Lowden branded tuners. The guitar is in excellent condition, with one professionally repaired back crack. The guitar comes in it’s original Lowden embossed Hiscox hard case.
