1988 Santa Cruz Custom D Brazilian Rosewood – £3799
ON HOLD Hand made by Santa Cruz in California, this is a custom built dreadnought with an Adirondack Spruce top and Brazilian Rosewood back and sides. It features a bound Ebony fretboard and bridge, herringbone trim, open back Waverley tuners, and the iconic Santa Cruz logo on the 12th fret. The visuals are classic, and the tone is something else – it has incredible presence, a rich bass response, yet retains a good balance with strong midrange and bright powerful trebles. It’s very responsive for fingerstyle playing as well as powerful rhythm bass lines. There’s something very interesting about Brazilian Rosewood – there’s a definite shimmer to the sustain, and it blooms the longer it rings. The guitar’s in good condition, with some great looking lacquer checking, some capo wear on the back of the neck, plus the beautifully figured Brazilian back has an opaque sheen with one raised lacquer crack. It comes in a Hiscox flight case.
