1987 Martin J40 R – £2199

NEW ARRIVAL  The J40R was only produced between 1985 – 89 with scalloped bracing, before being renamed the J40 with standard bracing, making this era model highly desirable. This is a jumbo body with dreadnought depth, therefore it has the bass and volume of an HD-28 with the midrange articulation of a 000-28. It has the deluxe appointments of a 40 series Martin including beautiful hexagonal abalone inlays, and Ebony fingerboard and bridge. This body style is also known as 0000, has a sound that has been described by many as powerful yet piano-like. A strong strummer yet when fingerpicked it articulates each string and note very well. Very loud and powerful across the spectrum, this is a guitar that is loud but also tone-ful. In excellent condition, there are no cracks or repairs, just some light lacquer checking. The guitar is in all original condition, and comes in a deluxe but tatty hard case.
