1967 Martin 000-18 – £3499
SOLD Martins of this age are pretty difficult to find, and this 56 year old example is excellent – one of the most surprising guitars I’ve played in quite a while. It works very well with fingerstyle play, well balanced and articulate, but also for strumming where the Mahogany adds warmth and depth that you may not associate with a 000 size guitar, and when soloing the smoothness of single notes is very impressive. Clearly the guitar has been played a lot, and has only benefited from this – the tone is deeper and richer than many equivalent guitars I’ve played. The playing experience is very enjoyably too, the neck feels great, the fingerboard is really responsive, and the action is comfortable. There are no cracks or repairs on the body, just one neck repair below the headstock which is very difficult to see. The guitar comes in a non original hard case.
