1967 Burns Baldwin Virginian 550 – £1299
NEW ARRIVAL The Virginian was the last guitar Jim Burns designed for his company before it was sold to Baldwin in 1965 and this guitar was unlike anything available at the time. At first glance it looks like a thinline electro acoustic guitar, but the Virginian is in fact a thinline fully electric semi-hollow body guitar built with a braced Mahogany laminate body and figured Sycamore top. It features two “Bar-O-Matik” pickups and the fully adjustable floating spring-tensioned “Rezo-Tube” bridge with tremolo bar. It has a three-knob “density” tone circuit designed by Jim Burns, which consists of a stacked “Bar-O-Matik” neck pickup, with a blendable second coil, combined with a single-coil at the bridge. Easily one of the most eccentric, forward thinking electric guitars ever produced, it actually plays really well, sounds very distinctive, and looks amazing. The guitar’s in good all original condition, with no cracks or repairs, some scuffs, and lots of lacquer checking. It comes in a non original hard case.
