1933 Martin R18 – £2499
NEW ARRIVAL Only produced between 1932 and 1942, and changed to an F hole model in late 1933, this is a very rare example of a Martin R18 round soundhole archtop. It features a dark burst Spruce top with Mahogany back and sides, a hand engraved Martin tailpiece, and beautiful tortoiseshell pickguard. Interestingly it’s X braced, rather than H braced as usually found on archtops. So that, plus the soundhole, makes it sound as close to a 00-18 as it does an archtop. It’s a fine example in excellent condition – with just on small repaired side crack – a comfortable soft V profile neck, and easy playing action. Not just a piece of history, but a very versatile guitar, and ridiculously cool. The guitar comes in a non original hard case.
