1925 Gibson L-1 – £1999

NEW ARRIVAL  This guitar is a real beauty, and in amazing condition for a 100 year old guitar. It’s a rare example of an arch top guitar with a central sound hole. Tonally it’s voiced for blues and jazz – this is the predecessor to the flat top L-1 that Robert Johnson famously played – and if you want to recreate that Robert Johnson growl then this guitar gets you close. The feel of the guitar is just great – it really is like holding a piece of history, yet it plays well, and is still structurally very strong so you don’t feel like you have to handle it with kid gloves. The guitar has the super cool ‘The Gibson’ headstock logo, a changed but period correct tailpiece, and one repaired top crack by the soundhole. Whether you’re a collector or a player, this guitar is a true example of an overused expression – it has real Mojo. The guitar comes in a vintage, non original hard case.
